The PFA Player of the Year award for the 2024/25 season was given as expected to Mo Salahwho also won the Golden Boot, the Premier League and a massive new contract.
The winner is not so clear-cut in 2025/26, with Declan Rice the favourite until Arsenal started to fall apart.
10) David Raya
I mean…come on. He’s not even close to being the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
9) Gabriel (Arsenal)
If Arsenal do win the Premier League, it is likely to be on the foundations of their defence. And Gabriel is key to that defence. Jamie Carragher calls him ‘the most influential player in the Premier League’.
8) Marc Guehi (Manchester City)
What a signing from Man City. What a mistake from Liverpool.
7) Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City)
A ludicrous suggestion. We suspect he will be more than happy with a title winner’s medal and a place in the Team of the Year.
6) Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City)
Joining Manchester City in January and then winning the Premier League in May would be quite some argument. But he would probably settle for a place in the PFA Team of the Year that looked improbable back in August at Bournemouth.
5) Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)
Just a wonderful footballer to watch. He’s a beautiful maverick and his form in these last few months of the season is a key reason why we have a title race.
4) Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)
It would be quite the achievement in what increasingly looks like his final season in English football. He was absolutely phenomenal against Arsenal.
3) Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
Scored the winner against Arsenal to not only give Manchester City the title race advantage but to widen the gap to Igor Thiago in second spot in the Golden Boot race. Haaland, of course, won this award in 2022/23.
2) Declan Rice (Arsenal)
If Arsenal do win the Premier League, it is likely to be on the foundations of their set-pieces. And Declan Rice is key to those set-pieces. He might also be the best midfielder in Europe bar none on current form. If he wins everything, he’s a Ballon d’Or contender. He looks absolutely knackered though, now.
1) Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)
The statistics suggest he is the most creative player in the Premier League bar none and in terms of influence he is surely the best player in the Premier League. He has dragged Manchester United to a third-place finish with his 18 assists.
