Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has explained why he thinks Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is a \u201cbig problem\u201d for Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n
Odegaard<\/strong> is enduring a difficult season for Arsenal, with the experienced midfielder impacted by injuries and a loss of form.<\/p>\n The decline of Arsenal<\/strong>\u2018s captain has contributed to his side\u2019s struggles in front of goal this season, with Arteta\u2019s team sorely lacking creativity in the final third.<\/p>\n Odegaard flattered to deceive as Arsenal edged past Newcastle United to move back to the Premier League over the weekend<\/strong>and he needs to step up in their remaining matches.<\/p>\n Following Arsenal\u2019s 1-0 win against Newcastle, Scholes has hit out at Odegaard, who does not \u201cplay his position properly\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThat game on Saturday (against Newcastle), I didn\u2019t see all of it, I probably saw the first half an hour, but I think Odegaard is a big problem for them,\u201d Scholes explained on The Overlap Fan Debate.<\/p>\n READ: Viktor Gyokeres among five Arsenal stars fighting for their futures with Arteta \u2018open\u2019 to sale<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI love Odegaard, I think he\u2019s brilliant. Technically, he\u2019s great, but he doesn\u2019t play his position properly.<\/p>\n \u201cHalf the time I saw him in the first 20 minutes he was almost the deepest man.<\/p>\n \u201cThat football, it\u2019s just bulls***.\u201d<\/p>\n Scholes has also been left unconvinced by Arsenal\u2019s summer signing Martin Zubimendi and has revealed his main concern with the midfielder.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Premier League is tough. It\u2019s a long season and he (Zubimendi) probably wouldn\u2019t have experienced anything like this before in Spain,\u201d Scholes added.<\/p>\n MORE ARSENAL COVERAGE ON F365\u2026<\/strong> \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t have been going for a title in Spain with Real Sociedad I suppose and when I\u2019d seen him for Sociedad, you (Gary Neville) were saying, if I remember rightly, that he\u2019s someone who progresses the ball up the pitch.<\/p>\n \u201cI never saw him as that. I didn\u2019t see him loads but I never thought he was going to be a player to make your team play good football, and I think your central midfield player has to do that. I don\u2019t think he progresses the game enough.\u201d<\/p>\n Regarding the Premier League title, Scholes is siding with Man City because they are \u201ccapable of winning every game\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cCity are handling it better with the big game last week, Arsenal limped over the line a little bit against Newcastle again,\u201d Scholes said on the title race.<\/p>\n \u201cI just think there\u2019s a flow to City. I know there\u2019s not massive experience in the squad but they\u2019ve got the manager who has got the experience which is a big thing.<\/p>\n \u201cLook, it\u2019s going to be close, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any doubting that, I just think City are capable of winning every game.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\nScholes digs out Zubimendi and drops Premier League title verdict<\/h2>\n
