{"id":924,"date":"2026-04-29T07:48:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T07:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=924"},"modified":"2026-04-29T07:48:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T07:48:37","slug":"man-city-furious-at-justified-pl-decision-amid-arsenals-unfortunate-title-failure-excuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=924","title":{"rendered":"Man City &#8216;furious&#8217; at justified PL decision amid Arsenal&#8217;s &#8216;unfortunate&#8217; title failure excuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Manchester City are said to be \u2018furious\u2019 at the Premier League boosting Arsenal\u2019s title hopes by refusing to alter their fixtures\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Man City<\/strong> have become accustomed to butting heads with the Premier League over recent years.<\/p>\n<p>But while everyone assumes that <strong>Pep Guardiola<\/strong>\u2018s side will escape their Financial Fair Play case with little or no punishment, they have not got their way with the Premier League regarding their fixture schedule for the run-in.<\/p>\n<p>Up until Tuesday evening, it was unclear when Man City would have their games against AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, with their progression to the FA Cup final adding an extra complication.<\/p>\n<p>Man City submitted a request to the Premier League for these games to be spread out to allow more recovery time, with the club hoping to play Bournemouth away first, thus leaving home matches against Palace and Aston Villa to finish their Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, though, the Premier League have \u2018rejected\u2019 this request, so Man City will now face Palace (Wednesday 13 May) and Bournemouth (Tuesday 19 May) in back-to-back midweeks, with these potentially decisive matches falling either side of the FA Cup final vs Chelsea (Saturday 16 May).<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Guardiola rocked by Romano as Junior Kroupi can get \u2018most important\u2019 thing at Chelsea<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So that is three matches over seven days for Man City, who <em>talkSPORT<\/em> say are \u2018furious\u2019 at the Premier League\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>It is noted that \u2018several clubs made the point informally to the Premier League\u2019 that it is \u2018not protocol to switch the order of fixtures unless forced to\u2019, while they would have made a \u2018formal complaint\u2019 had Man City been given back-to-back home games to finish their Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n<h2>Arsenal\u2019s \u2018unfortunate\u2019 title disadvantage removed\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>And it is pretty safe to assume that Arsenal are one of the aforementioned clubs to battle against Man City\u2019s request, which would have given them an unfair advantage over the Gunners in the run-in.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"0b629b85ba2abe5ff39df9829ee5fb57\" image-id=\"mcfcIgAeck33\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This is especially because <strong>Arsenal, as pointed out by Jamie Carragher, have been handed an \u2018unfortunate\u2019 disadvantage in the title race<\/strong> by having two legs against Atletico Madrid and Saturday\u2019s home match against Fulham over six days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: Arsenal 3 Man City 4 in Premier League XI of season so far<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Carragher said on Sky Sports\u2019 Monday Night Football:\u00a0\u201cI feel Arsenal have been unfortunate, and I know this playing Champions League semi finals, when you play Wednesday then Tuesday that\u2019s a big difference between Tuesday then Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re actually playing three games in six days, rather than three games in eight days. It\u2019s a massive difference at this stage of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why I really worry for Arsenal about this (the Fulham game). You play away and have to travel, Fulham are a good and decent side and then you\u2019ve got to go again on the Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been very unfortunate the way the games have fallen.
