{"id":555,"date":"2026-04-15T14:50:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:50:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=555"},"modified":"2026-04-15T14:50:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:50:34","slug":"gunners-make-complete-u-turn-over-65m-forward-as-andrea-berta-plans-104m-transfer-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=555","title":{"rendered":"Gunners make complete U-turn over \u00a365m forward as Andrea Berta plans \u00a3104m transfer deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Arsenal are willing to offload Kai Havertz in order to fund a move to bring Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Although <strong>Arsenal<\/strong> signed Viktor Gyokores in the summer of 2025, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are keen on signing another top-class striker.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julian Alvarez<\/strong> has long been on Arsenal\u2019s radar, and speculation has only ramped up in recent weeks, with the Gunners regularly sending scouts to watch the former Manchester City striker in action for <strong>Atletico Madrid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>TEAMtalk<\/em> has reported that Alvarez has already informed Atletico that he is open to a move away from the club this summer.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>CaughtOffSide<\/em>Arsenal are determined to sign Alvarez in the summer of 2026 and are \u2018willing to sell\u2019 Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz to fund a deal for the Argentina international striker.<\/p>\n<p>Atletico want \u20ac120million (\u00a3104.3m) for Alvarez, who has scored eight goals in 22 LaLiga starts and nine goals in 13 Champions League matches for Atletico this season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Big Midweek: Real v Bayern, Arsenal, Forest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To meet the Spanish club\u2019s demands, Arsenal plan to sell Brazil international striker Jesus or Germany international forward <strong>Havertz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, such a plan would \u2018create space within the wage structure and free up funds for a major signing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal are also mindful of interest in Alvarez from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBpU38FpI9\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This report on Arsenal\u2019s willingness to sell Havertz suggests a U-turn from the north London club on the former Chelsea forward.<\/p>\n<p>Havertz, who cost Arsenal \u00a365m when they signed him from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, is under contract at the Premier League leaders until 2028.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: Chief Arsenal bottlejob punished in ranking of 20 biggest summer signings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On February 6, <em>Football Transfers<\/em> reported that Arsenal were in talks with Havertz over a new contract.<\/p>\n<p>The report claimed that \u2018talks over a one-year extension\u2019 were heading \u2018in a positive direction\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, it seems that Arsenal have now decided that Havertz is expendable.<\/p>\n<p>Gyokeres is not going anywhere, and if Arsenal signed Alvarez and kept Jesus and Havertz, then there would be too many forwards for Arteta.<\/p>\n<p>While it remains to be seen if Havertz would be willing to leave Arsenal, Jesus could sever ties with the Gunners.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said on his <em>YouTube channel<\/em>: \u201cRegarding Gabriel Jesus, there have been stories from Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGabriel decided to go with a new agent at the beginning of 2026 to start assessing his future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is under contract with Arsenal until 2027, but I can guarantee to you that at this stage, the player is completely focused on trying to win something with Arsenal this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is really obsessed by that; he loves Arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the summer \u2013 not now in April or May \u2013 Gabriel Jesus could assess proposals in case of good bids for summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe could leave Arsenal one year before the expiration of his contract;
