A perfect Champions League record would land clubs a minimum of \u00a3115m this season, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City due more with TV payments.<\/p>\n
There is a reason that eight of Europe\u2019s biggest spenders in the 2025 transfer window<\/strong> came from the Premier League, including all six Champions League qualifiers: prize money.<\/p>\n The levels of money on offer in numerous competitions are preposterous and perhaps no more so than in the Champions League, in which clubs can earn well in excess of nine figures.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n As part of the revamped formats for their three main competitions, UEFA announced a revenue distribution system for how the total prize money of around \u00a32.88billion<\/strong> would be allocated each season up to 2026\/27.<\/p>\n Just over \u00a32.1bn<\/strong> (74.38%) will be distributed to clubs competing in the Champions League and Super Cup, \u00a3490.7m<\/strong> (17.02%) to teams participating in the Europa League, and \u00a3247.5m<\/strong> (8.6%) split between those in the Europa Conference League.<\/p>\n In the Champions League, the pot is further broken down into:<\/p>\n 1) Equal shares (\u00a3581.7m\/27.5%) \u2013 a set \u2018starting fee\u2019 of \u00a316.2m<\/strong> for all 36 clubs which qualify for the league phase, who are guaranteed this money regardless of subsequent results in the competition.<\/p>\n 2) Performance-related fixed amounts (\u00a3793.6m\/37.5%) \u2013 \u00a31.8m<\/strong> per each league phase win, \u00a3608,000<\/strong> per each league phase draw and \u00a3238,000<\/strong> per each league phase position, going up in increments from the team in 36th receiving \u00a3238,000<\/strong> and the team in 1st receiving \u00a38.57m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Undistributed amounts from each league phase draw \u2013 \u00a3608,000<\/strong> \u2013 are also allocated proportionately to these ranking payments at the end of the league phase, so the prize money for positions will be higher.<\/p>\n There is also extra money\u00a0on offer for finishing in the top eight and\u00a0for coming between 9th and 16th. This is how Liverpool made a fortune despite being knocked out in the last 16 last season<\/strong>.<\/p>\n 3) The \u2018value pillar\u2019 (\u00a3740.6m\/35%) \u2013 a combination of payments based on club coefficient rankings and the TV pool. This can be harder to accurately calculate but will naturally reward the \u2018bigger\u2019 clubs and traditional elite.<\/p>\n Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and the Premier League\u2019s four regular European qualifiers in Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal would be the biggest winners here, with Qarabag, Pafos and Kairat due more modest sums.<\/p>\n A rough estimation of all 36 participating clubs\u2019 value pillar payments will be factored into the final prize money total, which for a few clubs should far exceed \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n There is also a fixed fee of \u00a33.73m<\/strong> for all clubs eliminated in the qualification play-offs before the commencement of the league phase.
