Liverpool<\/strong> were paid \u00a3174.9m as champions \u2013 short of Manchester City\u2019s record \u00a3176.2m in 2022\/23 \u2013 while Newcastle received just over \u00a3160m to chuck into their PSR black hole.<\/p>\n Southampton were handed \u00a3109.2m for their efforts in finishing a distant bottom. It pays to be in the Premier League.<\/p>\n Some of those payments are fixed. All 20 clubs automatically receive around \u00a396.9m<\/strong> through an equal share distributed based on both the domestic (\u00a329.8m in 2024\/25) and international (\u00a359.2m in 2024\/25) broadcast deals \u2013 those TV rights are lucrative for a reason \u2013 as well as \u00a37.9m each from central commercial revenue streams.<\/p>\n The rest is variable, based on where clubs finish and how often their games are selected for broadcast.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Premier League merit payments are distributed on a sliding scale from 1st to 20th, made up of combined earnings from domestic and international broadcast deals.<\/p>\n For the 2024\/25 season, the difference in prize money was around \u00a32.7m per position<\/strong>. Southampton were given as much for finishing bottom, all the way up to champions Liverpool receiving \u00a353.1m. Arsenal had 29 matches and were paid \u00a324.2m, while Manchester United (28 games for \u00a323.4m), Aston Villa (27 games for \u00a322.6m) and Chelsea (26 games for \u00a321.8m) were televised frequently and rewarded handsomely.<\/p>\n Ipswich were shown on the fewest occasions and received \u00a38.9m in facility fees for their 10 live televised UK fixtures.<\/p>\n This can lead to discrepancies in terms of those variable payments.
