Pretty much as always.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Snub crawl<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Frank Lampard was named LMA manager of the year on Tuesday. But that really is shudderingly boring, isn\u2019t it? Far more interesting is this from <strong>The Sun website<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2018Arteta brutally SNUBBED by fellow bosses for top award despite Arsenal title win\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>No update yet on whether fellow nominees Pep Guardiola, Unai Emery, Andoni Iraola, Keith Andrews, Michael Skubala and Andy Woodman were also \u2018brutally SNUBBED\u2019, or if only Arteta can possibly suffer such a fate.<\/p>\n<p>A fate, by the way, that amounts to being \u2018sensationally beaten\u2019 and \u2018incredibly snubbed\u2019 for an award in favour of a manager who won the Championship title by 11 points, guiding his club to Premier League promotion for the first time in 25 years as the division\u2019s highest scorers and lowest conceders.<\/p>\n<p>Apropos of nothing, we wonder whether Charlie Wyett \u2013 the man happy to pretend this is a brutal SNUBBING \u2013 <strong>still believes Arteta to be \u2018deluded\u2019<\/strong>and Arsenal to be \u2018mentality muppets\u2019 who have \u2018gone backwards\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Class is in session<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This, by the way, is absolutely textbook John Cross-ing.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2018Mikel Arteta was Premier League Manager of the Year. But Jeremy Cross of the <strong>Daily Mirror<\/strong> is reaching here.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It feels symbolic of Liverpool\u2019s rapid decline this season,\u2019 he writes. \u2018And a damning reflection of how standards have slipped at one of the world\u2019s biggest and proudest football clubs.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93\" image-id=\"neimZgEGW3bA\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018shameful\u2019, \u2019embarrassing\u2019 and \u2018almost unthinkable\u2019 \u2018snub\u2019? That there is no Liverpool player in <strong>England\u2019s World Cup squad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Cross points out that it is the first time this has happened since 1986. He neglects to mention that they were English champions and FA Cup winners then, which undermines the idea that a lack of representation in an England World Cup squad is \u2018a damning reflection of how standards have slipped at one of the world\u2019s biggest and proudest football clubs\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a reflection of Rio Ngumoha being 17, Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez being Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez, and Liverpool selling Jarell Quansah and Jordan Henderson.<\/p>\n<p>There are no Bournemouth players in the England squad either. Is that a reflection of how rubbish they are too?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Boffin compares to you<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>AI technology platform PLAIER would put Jones in the England squad, which is obviously incredibly embarrassing for Tuchel.<\/p>\n<p>James Tarkowski would also have made a selection based on a system which \u2018uses a database of more than 300,000 footballers across more than 200 countries to correlate data and provide precise analysis,\u2019 with players \u2018selected in the AI squad based on the likeliness of success on the pitch as a team, rather than individual quality.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>And it is at that point that the <strong>MailOnline<\/strong> should probably have realised they were being a bit silly in doing a story based on the findings of an AI scouting tool which believes Jones, Tarkowski and Lewis Dunk to be central to World Cup glory.<\/p>\n<p>But of course the MailOnline was going to cover both that and the Sofascore Premier League team of the season. It all boils down to one word.
