Paul Merson has explained why he thinks Arsenal star Jurrien Timber \u201chas to play\u201d against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.<\/p>\n
The Gunners<\/strong> are coming off winning the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, and they could still do the double this season as they face PSG in the Champions League final this weekend.<\/p>\n Mikel Arteta<\/strong>\u2018s side got over the line in the Premier League without Timber, who has been out of action with a groin injury since March.<\/p>\n The Dutchman, who joined Arsenal for around \u00a338m, has been a huge miss over the past couple of months and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for this weekend\u2019s final.<\/p>\n Despite this, Merson has urged Arsenal to \u201ctake a chance\u201d with Timber this weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Jurrien Timber has to play,\u201d Arsenal legend Merson said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.<\/p>\n READ: Arsenal p*ss it, managergeddon, Spurs nonsense, Palace 12th \u2013 10 kneejerk predictions for next season<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s talk that he will be fit.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s got to play, even if he\u2019s half-fit I would take a chance on him because he has to play in that game.\u201d<\/p>\n Merson was also asked whether he thinks Arsenal can beat PSG, to which he insisted that they can defeat the Champions League holders.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah I do, I do,\u201d Merson responded.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving that rest after winning the title was important, they didn\u2019t have any of that nervous energy going into the final day.<\/p>\n \u201cI think they\u2019ve got a chance, especially with the way they do set-plays. Anytime they get a set-piece will be like a penalty because PSG are a small team, they\u2019re a good team but they\u2019re a small team.<\/p>\n \u201cI think PSG will struggle with that. The way they played against Bayern was outstanding tactically. And physically, they are top of the bill at the moment.<\/p>\n \u201cThey don\u2019t give the opposition any easy build up \u2014 they press you immediately. And all their great players are willing to work hard.
