{"id":1490,"date":"2026-05-22T16:24:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T16:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1490"},"modified":"2026-05-22T16:24:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T16:24:24","slug":"toney-watkins-in-while-palmer-and-foden-join-maguire-on-world-cup-snub-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1490","title":{"rendered":"Toney, Watkins in, while Palmer and Foden join Maguire on World Cup snub list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is set to make the England World Cup squad as Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and two others are left out after news of Harry Maguire\u2019s absence, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Tuchel will reveal his World Cup squad on Friday as he chooses 26 players to represent the Three Lions in Canada, Mexico and USA next month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>News broke earlier on Thursday evening<\/strong> that Manchester United centre-back Maguire will not be part of Tuchel\u2019s plans for the summer tournament with the defender revealing his \u201cshock\u201d at the decision, while his Red Devils team-mate Kobbie Mainoo is set to be included.<\/p>\n<p>And now <em>BBC Sport<\/em>\u2018s Sami Mokbel has revealed that Chelsea star Cole Palmer, Manchester City attacking midfielder Phil Foden, Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw and AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori are also set to miss out on the <strong>England<\/strong> squad.<\/p>\n<p>Mokbel wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2018Shaw was named in\u00a0Tuchel\u2019s 55-man provisional squad\u00a0and there had been a clamour for his inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But, with Newcastle\u2019s Dan Burn and Manchester City\u2019s Nico O\u2019Reilly in line to be called-up, Shaw is expected to miss out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>MEDIA WATCH:<span> <\/span>Harry Kane concern and calls for Jude Bellingham snub \u2013 are England in CRISIS?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2018AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is also expected to be left out, though Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is expected to make the cut \u2013 joining team-mates Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The Athletic<\/em>\u2018s David Ornstein also revealed that former Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who is currently playing in Saudi Arabia, will be in the England squad.<\/p>\n<p>Ornstein, who also brought news of Newcastle\u2019s Tino Livramento being included, wrote on <em>X<\/em>: \u2018Ivan Toney recalled to England squad for 2026 World Cup. 30yo Al Ahli striker rewarded for 42 goals + 11 assists in 37 #AlAhli appearances across all competitions this season. Ivan Toney is the notable inclusion, while Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento both get the nod. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cKobbie Mainoo also picked, as revealed earlier.
