{"id":1477,"date":"2026-05-22T03:13:55","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T03:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1477"},"modified":"2026-05-22T03:13:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T03:13:55","slug":"wright-shearer-react-to-title-win-as-trophy-parade-date-and-start-time-are-confirmed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1477","title":{"rendered":"Wright, Shearer react to title win as trophy parade date and start time are confirmed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Arsenal legend Ian Wright gave an emotional interview after the Gunners were crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester City\u2019s draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday night made it mathematically impossible for Pep Guardiola\u2019s side to catch leaders <strong>Arsenal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners still have a chance to win the Champions League too as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the final on May 30 in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal players, fans and Mikel Arteta have had to face a lot of criticism this season, both internally and externally, but they pulled through to win the title with a game to spare.<\/p>\n<p>And Wright picked out four people in particular who deserve massive credit for their achievments this season, including former sporting director Edu.<\/p>\n<p>Wright said on <em>Stan Sport Football<\/em>: \u201cWinning in \u201998 was unbelievable but experiencing it as a fan, with everything we\u2019ve gone through in the last three years and everything that\u2019s gone on, everything we\u2019ve had to take\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Arsenal cash in receipts on Neville, Carragher (and Stewie) after transformation \u2018without sugar daddy\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just been so tough the last three years and to finally do it\u2026 honestly, what can I say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMikel, unbelievable. For what he\u2019s done, it\u2019s almost visionary what he\u2019s done. He came in, turned everything around, got the owners on side, got the fans on side, got players out, got players in, stuck to his principles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHale End\u2026 Per Mertesacker is leaving now, unbelievable work he\u2019s done for us. Even Edu, he\u2019s got to get some love, Vinai (Venkatesham), all these people who have got us to this, it\u2019s amazing.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"598d587f82f0613dc60f89d2daf94a61\" image-id=\"brfcMXSowHL2\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis club deserves it, our fans deserve it, all around the world, we deserve this now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wright added: \u201cPeople just hammer us all the time, constantly hammer us, hammer us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey hammer our manager for his gimmicks, his this, his that. Now they can\u2019t do that no more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll that noise has got to stop because everything he\u2019s done has led to them winning the league so they can\u2019t hammer him for his gimmicks now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fans getting hammered, \u2018We\u2019re bottlers, we\u2019re this, we\u2019re that!\u2019, we\u2019ve had to take that for the last three years and now this season, this team, with the squad they\u2019ve built\u2026 people said at the start of the season that this squad was good enough to do it and they were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about his celebrations and feelings while watching Man City draw against Bournemouth, Wright continued:\u00a0\u201cWhen Bournemouth scored I was absolutely over the moon. They missed a couple of good chances as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got my Mrs and my girls in a cab and said, \u2018Come on, we\u2019re going down there! Let\u2019s go to the Emirates\u2019, and then Erling Haaland scored.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: The six Premier League tables to show how Arsenal proved Neville wrong and won the title<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was only a minute or two to go and the taxi man had it on, I said to turn it off, \u2018I don\u2019t want to listen to it!\u2019, and then bam, he blew the whistle and it\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>When will Arsenal have their trophy parade?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Arsenal could yet be celebrating two trophies at their north London trophy parade, if they can get their hands on the Champions League trophy too, with the date confirmed as Sunday May 31.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will start at 2pm in the afternoon in a quick turnaround for players, staff and fans heading to Budapest for the Champions League final the day before.<\/p>\n<p>An Arsenal statement confirmed: \u2018This will be a major public event, and we anticipate large numbers of supporters will turn out in the local area.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We hope you are able to join our celebrations on the day. Local residents and businesses should be advised that the event will lead to disruption across the borough that will involve road closures and parking suspensions. You may also find it difficult to move normally around the borough or pass through the route.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We will communicate more details on the parade closer to the time, which will only be published on our website and other official Arsenal channels.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Shearer: They\u2019ll be absolutely on the way to getting s***faced<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Alan Shearer hailed Arsenal as \u201cthe best team\u201d in the Premier League this season, despite criticism of their style of play, and reckons there will be an overwhelming feeling of relief among the team.<\/p>\n<p>Shearer said on <em>The Rest Is Football<\/em>: \u201cThey\u2019ve been the best team, they\u2019ve been the most consistent team, they\u2019ve found a way to win games when they weren\u2019t playing that well which you have to do being the champions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Arsenal aces face possible Premier League medal snub just for playing no Premier League games<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a long, hard and stressful road for them but when it\u2019s been that long you have to go through all of that, all that stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been there myself, I know what it feels like.
