{"id":1145,"date":"2026-05-06T21:32:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T21:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1145"},"modified":"2026-05-06T21:32:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T21:32:24","slug":"man-city-midfielder-responds-to-arteta-and-berta-interest-and-makes-immediate-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esport.com.ng\/?p=1145","title":{"rendered":"Man City midfielder responds to Arteta and Berta \u2018interest\u2019 and makes immediate decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Arsenal have failed to convince Phil Foden to move to the Emirates Stadium, with multiple reports claiming that he will sign a new contract with Manchester City and turn down the chance to work with Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n<p>It has been a difficult season for <strong>The foot<\/strong>who has made just 21 starts in the Premier League for Man City.<\/p>\n<p>The England international midfielder\u2019s performances when he has played have not been particularly great, with Foden scoring just 10 goals and giving only five assists in 46 matches in all competitions for Man City in the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>Man City have full faith in Foden and have handed him a new contract<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>BBC Sport<\/em>Foden has \u2018reached an agreement in principle\u2019 with <strong>Man City<\/strong> over a new four-year contract.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sky Sports<\/em> has also made a similar claim about the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, whose current contract is due to run out in 2027.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Champions League prize money table calculated as Arsenal winnings skyrocket<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>TEAMtalk<\/em>too, has reported that Foden has committed his long-term future to Man City, with the reliable transfer media outlet revealing Arsenal\u2019s \u2018interest\u2019 in him.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Man City star Phil Foden rejects Arsenal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Arsenal<\/strong> were among the clubs who showed \u2018interest\u2019 in Foden over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, too, are keen on Foden.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93\" image-id=\"ARCH6589500_00409943\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Despite that attention, Foden has made it clear his future lies in Manchester\u2019, according to<em> TEAMtalk<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The report has added: \u2018Foden enlisted the services of Rafaela Pimenta, who comes highly recommended by close friend and teammate Erling Haaland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: Man City cursed by Neville in PL title race as Arsenal \u2018relishing\u2019 run-in, Guehi and co. slip first<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Her involvement has proven pivotal in pushing talks over the line and securing the long-term agreement.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Foden came through the Man City youth system and is now a first-team star, so him turning \u2018his back on mounting interest from rival clubs to agree fresh terms\u2019 with the Premier League club should not come as a surprise at all.<\/p>\n<p>The attacking midfielder has won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, the EFL Cup on five occasions, and the Champions League once with Man City so far in his career.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, <em>Bild<\/em> journalist <em>Christian Falk<\/em>dismissed suggestions that Bayern want to sign Foden from Man City.<\/p>\n<p>Falk wrote on his website, <em>CFBayernInsider<\/em>: \u201cIt is\u00a0NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich are looking at Phil Foden ahead of the summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a very interesting name, of course! But, Bayern Munich aren\u2019t looking for a player like him; a player who\u2019s expensive and who\u2019d want to play every game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBayern are searching for a backup for the left wing position behind Luis Diaz. But, you know, they have Diaz, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and a young Lennart Karl who needs playing time to protect his development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRespectfully, where would Phil Foden play in this team?
